• A coat that suits many allergy sufferers. Thanks to the Poodle influence, most Aussiedoodles shed lightly and give off less of the dander that sets off allergies, so families who struggle with other dogs can often live happily alongside one.
  
• Remarkably clever. With an Australian Shepherd and a Poodle in their makeup, Aussiedoodles are among the sharpest of the doodle crosses. They pick up training quickly and genuinely enjoy learning, which makes them a joy for owners who want to teach tricks, agility, or advanced obedience.
• Devoted and affectionate. Aussiedoodles form close bonds with their family and like to stay near the action. They're loving with children and thrive on being included in whatever's going on.

Questions to Ask Your Aussiedoodle Breeder

Breeders differ enormously, and sorting the careful ones from the rest takes some effort. Poor breeding practices can produce puppies with health problems that better care would have prevented, so a few sharp questions are worth your time. Here's what to put to any Aussiedoodle breeder before you commit:

• Have the parents been health-tested? Because Aussiedoodles come from Australian Shepherds and Poodles, they can inherit conditions such as eye disease or hip problems from either side, so responsible breeders screen the parents beforehand. Ask to see the results. Ours are tested, and we're glad to talk you through the paperwork.
• Are the puppies vaccinated? Good breeders start the vaccination schedule before a puppy leaves for its new home. When yours goes home with us, its vaccination card comes along.
• How long have they been breeding? A breeder's experience tells you a lot about how well they understand their dogs, so ask how long they've been at it.
• How are the puppies socialised? The early weeks shape a puppy's temperament for the rest of its life. We raise ours to the Victorian Code of Practice, with regular audits of our facilities and animal welfare.
