Cavoodle

Cavoodles are one of the easier breeds to bring into a home, which makes them a good choice whether you're a first-time owner or adding to a busy household. Here are some reasons to consider a Cavoodle puppy:

• Little shedding. Their Poodle coat means they shed very little, so people who usually can't keep a furry pet because of allergies can often live comfortably with a Cavoodle.
• Affectionate and gentle. Cavoodles are known for being calm and people-oriented. They're good with children and happy to settle in your lap, which makes them a easy fit for family life.
• Adaptable size. Because they're small, Cavoodles do well in apartments and smaller homes, not just houses with big yards. They're still up for a walk and a play, but they don't need acres to be happy.

There are plenty of breeders around, but picking the right one can be tricky. Some breeders interbreed their dogs to the point where the puppies are no longer healthy. Here are some questions to ask a Cavoodle breeder before you buy a puppy:

• Do they vaccinate the puppies? Many breeders will vaccinate their puppies before they sell them to you. We will give the puppy's vaccination card to you.
• Do they health-test the parents? Because Cavoodles come from Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and Poodles, they can inherit conditions from either side, so a responsible breeder screens the parent dogs before breeding them. Ask to see the results. Our parent dogs are health-tested, and we're happy to show you the paperwork.
• Do they socialise the puppies? Your puppy's temperament depends a lot on how well they're socialised from a young age. We raise our puppies according to the Victorian Code of Practice, and they run regular audits on our facilities and welfare.
